Band films for Auto Trader

The band were delighted to be asked to take part in a video recording for the Auto Trader Group Plc who were filming in Yorkshire as part of their online resources.  They are getting the message across that in this part of the country they are transparent and straightforward in their speaking and pricing .  The band provided music as Nick King their Market Research Director spoke.  The filming was done on Tuesday 23rd June at rehearsal and was a great experience which the band enjoyed.

Fund raising evening with Roger Davies

On Friday 20th February Julia and Rob Wood organised a fund raising evening at Bailiff Bridge Community Centre with singer songwriter Roger Davies.

The evening started at 7.30pm and by 7.15pm all the chairs were just about taken.

Roger started his evening with a song that the band performed with him at a concert in Huddersfield Town Hall, Brighouse on a Saturday Night.

Throughout the evening he sang various numbers including Peter Brook's paintings.  Huddersfield Town, Wear your Poppy with Pride and even a song about Lilly Fogg.

B Band at Pogson-Bray

On Sunday 19th October the B Band once again took part in the Pogson-Bray Entertainment Contest at Berties in Elland.

Out of a field of 14 bands we were drawn to play the last band one.
The contest is made up of bands from the second section down to unregistered bands.
The bands programme included the March Imperial Echos, Harry Ridler playing My Love is like a Red Red Rose, a selection of tunes by Irvin Berlin and two movie blockbusters, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Pirates of the Caribbean.

The band on this occasion was conducted by the senior band Principal Cornet player David Crisp.

Great Night at Annual Concert

Our Annual Concert was held at the Central Methodist Church Brighouse on Saturday 27th September 2014.
Included in the programme was our Senior and B bands along with the Gwent Police Choir who had travelled up especially to be with us.

The partnership started with the Choir through a chance e-mail sent by our Secretary asking if they were interested in doing an exchange, the choir jumped at the opportunity and the senior band travelled and performed with the Choir last March in Gwent.

As the start time approached the church was filling up nicely with lots of our Patrons coming along to listen.

B Band in National Brass Band Finals

Well, for the first time in their history our very own B Band are taking part in the 4th Section National Brass Band Finals in Cheltenham this weekend.
Our section is being held at the Cheltenham Racecourse on Saturday afternoon 20th September starting at 3.00pm.

The band has worked so hard under the direction of Musical Director John Clay for the last few months on Geoffrey Burgon's test piece Narnia Suite which is in 5 short movements and is based around the Chronicles of Narnia by C S Lewis and in particular The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Band performs in Newport

At the end of March the senior band travelled to Newport in Gwent to perform a concert with the Gwent Police Male Voice Choir.
The concert was held in the Church Hall at St Patricks Church Newport.

The concert started at 7.00pm and by 6.45pm the hall was packed.  The choir opened up the concert with Do you hear the people sing, Bring him home both from Les Miserables.

Brian Nicholson our Band President and Compere for the evening then opened our session with the march Pateley Bridge after which we received wonderful applause and cheers.

Brassed Off

The senior band appeared at the Alhambra Theatre Bradford between 11th and 15th March for seven performances of a production of Brassed Off.

The band were asked at the end of last year if they would like to take part in the production and of course we jumped at the chance, the production was organised by the Touring Consortium Theatre Company and we feel very proud to have been part of this wonderful staging.
The audiences were brilliant and with over 1,000 in every performance the atmosphere was magic.

Christmas Fundraising

The organisation has done very well with the Christmas fundraising this year, being only £43.00 down on last years total of over £4,000.
There were some great concerts which were very well attended and we received lots of nice comments and repeat bookings for 2014.
Thanks to all the band members for a brilliant effort.

Coffee Morning

On Saturday 9th November a coffee morning was held in the band room between 10 and 12.00noon.
There was a steady stream of people who enjoyed a chat over coffee and cake.  A tombola was also set up for the day and Christmas Cards and paper etc was also on sale.
The morning made £140 for band funds.

Thanks to everyone who participated.
